Caring for your Cat at Toll Barn Vets
Our staff all have a keen interest in the health and wellbeing of our patients and our surgery design and equipment has been carefully selected to allow full investigation, treatment and medical and surgical care of our feline patients.
We have been accredited as Gold Standard Feline Friendly by the International Society of Feline Medicine in recognition of our specialised facilities, knowledge and services, an award achieved by only a small handful of practices.

Dedicated waiting areas

Separate cat, dog and exotic pet waiting areas reduce stress and keep your pets as comfortable as possible whilst waiting to be seen

Fresh air system throughout the practice to remove smells of previous patients and circulate fresh air

Use of pheromone and calming diffusers and provision of blankets and raised areas for cat baskets within the waiting area to minimise stress

15 minute consultations allow thorough examination and discussion of our findings and treatment options

Consultations are available for all conditions, whether routine check ups or care of an unwell pet

We stock a full range of medications to treat most conditions quickly and effectively

Routine and non routine/emergency surgery including neutering

2 dedicated operating theatres with full monitoring equipment including ECG, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, capnography and temperature control with heated operating tables

keeping your pet safe is our priority so our anaesthetic protocols are tailored to each patient and include Isoflurane and Sevoflurane (a gaseous anaesthetic used in human paediatric surgery)

Whenever possible (even for routine surgery, unlike many practices) intravenous catheters are placed

Pets are monitored throughout surgery and recovery by qualified veterinary nurses, not lay staff

Neutering has many benefits including reducing unwanted kittens, reducing urine spraying in males, reducing the chance of mammary tumours and preventing pyometra (infection of the uterus) and testicular tumours

Although spay and castration are classed as “routine surgery” we believe we should still provide the best available care for your pet and as part of the neutering package we include pain relief following the surgery to ensure your pet is comfortable during their recovery and post operation check ups

Dental care

Tartar and the associated bacteria not only lead to bad breath but also cause gum disease

These bacteria can then enter your pet’s blood stream causing infection in other areas of the body including infection of the heart valves

FREE OF CHARGE dental clinics are available with our nurses offering advice on dental care as well as dental scale, polish, tooth extraction, dental radiographs and dental abscess treatment

Hospitalisation

Hospitalised pets remain at the surgery overnight cared for by the vet and nurse on duty with no requirement to transport them elsewhere for overnight care

Ultrasound including Colour Doppler to assist investigating heart disease and pregnancy diagnosis

Our ultrasound machine enables biopsy of some areas of abnormal appearance without the need for surgery

We can begin vaccinating kittens at 8 weeks old and can vaccinate against Feline Influenza (flu), Feline Infectious Enteritis, Feline Leukaemia and Rabies if required

As part of your initial kitten vaccinations we believe in giving your kitten the best start to life and will include 5 weeks FREE pet insurance as well as a FREE worm and flea treatment and kitten pack

Pregnancy confirmation is possible with our ultrasound machine to help you plan for you new arrivals - we can even provide digital photos if you supply a USB stick so you have a lasting memory of the new arrivals!

Experienced friendly vets and nurses are happy to offer advice for anyone considering breeding as well as providing neonatal care for kittens
